College is something that most people strive for at some point in their life. Lots of people are built on the idea that you finish the education system, go to college, find a job, and then settle down. But for some, college’s costs outweigh its worth. Here are some of the advantages and disadvantages of going to college…

  1. College is a place for people to further their education. It is where you can gain knowledge about the things that you like, as well as the things that you don't. College means plenty more classes, which means lot more information to learn.

2. Many jobs require at minimum, a college education. So with a diploma, more interesting and high paying jobs are likely to be available to you. Most employers simply don’t bother with your resume unless you have a college education.

3. College is a place for new experiences. Outside of your hometown, there are countless new people for you to meet and places to go. As an adult in college, you have the freedom to do as you please.

4. College allows students to explore career options. They offer career services, internships, volunteering, career fairs, and courses to help direct students to their future jobs and interests. Over 80% of college students complete an internship before getting their job, giving them more experience.

  1. As many know, college costs money. It is very expensive and leaves many people in dept. Though student loans are an option, once you graduate they are hounding you to pay them off. The lack of money between college students leaves them turning to their family, friends and banks for a way out.

2. School is stressful, and college is going to be even more stressful. You are on your own at college. You must email your teachers, get yourself to class, pay your bills, do your own homework, and find a way to graduate.

3. There ARE some successful careers that don't require a college education. For example, dental hygienists, veterinary technicians, and opticians. These jobs also pay well and offer you a comfortable life.

4. Many students do not end up graduating. 18% of students who enroll into college do not return for their second year. This wastes tons of their own money as well as the government’s money.
